How to set up Linkding
Save and organize your bookmarks. This guide covers how to access it, log in for the first time, configure the basics, and where its data lives so you can back it up.
1. What is Linkding?
A minimal, self-hosted bookmark manager. Save links from any browser, tag and search them, and never lose a useful webpage again. Includes a browser extension for one-click saving.
2. How to access it
Once it's enabled, Linkding runs on your SparkBox at:
http://<your-NAS-IP>:9090
Install the Linkding browser extension to save bookmarks with one click
3. First login
SparkBox auto-created a Linkding admin for you — the credentials are shown below. Log in with username 'admin' and the password. You can change the password inside Linkding at Settings → Account.
If it instead asks for a password you didn't set, check Settings → Passwords in your SparkBox dashboard — every auto-generated credential is listed there.
4. Tips
- Install the browser extension for one-click bookmark saving
- Use tags to organize your bookmarks and find them quickly
5. Where your data lives
Linkding's config and persistent data are stored on the SparkBox host under:
/opt/sparkbox/modules/linkding/config/
Backups via the SparkBox dashboard's Backup tile include this directory by default, so a single restore brings Linkding back to its current state on a fresh install.
