How to set up File Browser
Manage your server files from the browser. This guide covers how to access it, log in for the first time, configure the basics, and where its data lives so you can back it up.
1. What is File Browser?
A clean web-based file manager for your server. Browse, upload, download, rename, and organize files without needing SSH or FTP. Great for managing configs and backups.
2. How to access it
Once it's enabled, File Browser runs on your SparkBox at:
http://<your-NAS-IP>:8086
Find your File Browser login under Settings โ Passwords in the dashboard (the installer sets a unique password; admin/admin no longer works)
3. Tips
- Use this to organize your server files from the browser
- You can upload files directly from your browser โ no FTP client needed
4. Where your data lives
File Browser's config and persistent data are stored on the SparkBox host under:
/opt/sparkbox/modules/files/config/
Backups via the SparkBox dashboard's Backup tile include this directory by default, so a single restore brings File Browser back to its current state on a fresh install.
