How to set up Ebooks & Comics
Your personal library server. This guide covers how to access it, log in for the first time, configure the basics, and where its data lives so you can back it up.
1. What is Ebooks & Comics?
Run your own digital library with Calibre-web for ebooks (send to Kindle/Kobo) and Kavita for comics, manga, and manhwa. Browse, read, and sync from any device.
2. Before you start
Make sure the paths you choose for books and manga exist and are writable. You can drop files in after install.
3. How to access it
Once it's enabled, Ebooks & Comics runs on your SparkBox at:
http://<your-NAS-IP>:8083
Point Calibre-web at /books on first run to import your library.
4. First login
Default admin: admin / admin123 — CHANGE IMMEDIATELY on first login (click 'admin' top-right → Admin). On first visit Calibre-web asks for a Calibre library path; leave it as '/books' (SparkBox pre-creates this folder and mounts it from data/books/).
If it instead asks for a password you didn't set, check Settings → Passwords in your SparkBox dashboard — every auto-generated credential is listed there.
5. Settings you can change
You can set these when you enable the module, or later from Apps → Ebooks & Comics in the dashboard:
- Books Folder — Where to store your ebook library
- Manga Folder — Where to store your manga/comics library
6. Where your data lives
Ebooks & Comics's config and persistent data are stored on the SparkBox host under:
/opt/sparkbox/modules/ebooks/config/
Backups via the SparkBox dashboard's Backup tile include this directory by default, so a single restore brings Ebooks & Comics back to its current state on a fresh install.

That's Ebooks & Comics live on SparkBox.
