1. Overview

SparkBox is self-hosted software. You install it on your own hardware — a VPS, NAS, or local machine. We (Tom Spark, an individual, not a corporation) provide the SparkBox software and, if you purchase it, a Pro license key. That is the extent of what we provide. Your server, your data, your responsibility.

2. License

  • One license key = one server installation. Each Pro license key is valid for a single active SparkBox server at a time.
  • Transfers allowed. You may transfer your license to a different server by deactivating it on the old server and activating it on the new one.
  • No simultaneous use. You may not run one license key on multiple servers at the same time.
  • Source-available. SparkBox is released under a source-available license. You can read and modify the code for your own personal use.
  • No redistribution. You may not redistribute, resell, sublicense, or create derivative works of SparkBox for distribution.
  • No tampering. You may not remove or circumvent Pro license checks, branding, or affiliate links.

3. Supported Platforms

  • Officially supported: Hostinger VPS (Ubuntu/Debian), UGREEN NASync (DXP2800, DXP4800), and Windows WSL2.
  • Other platforms may work but are not officially supported or tested by us.
  • Support and refunds only apply to officially supported platforms.

4. Payment

  • SparkBox Pro is a one-time payment of $39 USD. No subscriptions, no recurring fees.
  • License keys are delivered digitally and are valid permanently — they do not expire.
  • Pricing may change for future purchases, but existing licenses remain valid forever regardless of any price changes.

5. Your Responsibilities

Because SparkBox runs on your hardware, you are responsible for:

  • Your own hardware, network configuration, and internet connectivity.
  • Backups of your data. We cannot recover data from your server.
  • Providing your own VPN subscription if you use the media module (SparkBox does not include a VPN service).
  • Providing your own Anthropic API key if you use the AI chat module. We do not have access to your conversations or API key.

6. No Warranty / Limitation of Liability

SparkBox is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied.

  • We are not liable for data loss, downtime, security breaches on your hardware, or any damages of any kind.
  • Self-hosted means you control the server. We cannot access, monitor, or recover your data.
  • Our maximum liability is limited to the purchase price you paid ($39 USD).

7. Privacy

  • SparkBox runs entirely on your hardware. We do not collect telemetry, usage data, or personal information.
  • The only communication with our servers: optional update checks and license key validation.
  • We store your email address for license delivery and support purposes only.
  • We do not sell or share your information with anyone.

8. Updates

  • SparkBox Pro includes automatic updates for the SparkBox software and module configurations.
  • We do not guarantee updates on any specific schedule.
  • Updates are delivered as new releases — your server pulls them when available.

9. Termination

  • Your license is perpetual — it does not expire.
  • We reserve the right to refuse service for abuse, chargebacks, or license violations.
  • If terminated for violation, your existing installation continues to work but loses Pro features and future updates.

10. Changes to Terms

  • We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of SparkBox after changes constitutes acceptance.
  • Material changes will be communicated via the website.
