How to set up Emby
Stream your media to any device. This guide covers how to access it, log in for the first time, configure the basics, and where its data lives so you can back it up.
1. What is Emby?
Emby Server organizes and streams your personal media library — movies, TV, music, photos — to any device, browser, or smart TV. A polished commercial-quality alternative to Plex and Jellyfin. Hardware transcoding works on UGREEN N100 / i3 NAS via Intel Quick Sync.
2. How to access it
Once it's enabled, Emby runs on your SparkBox at:
http://<your-NAS-IP>:8092
On first launch, Emby walks you through user setup and library scanning
3. Tips
- Drop your movies and shows into the data/media folder and Emby will scan them
- Some Emby Premiere features (mobile sync, DVR) require a paid Emby account — the rest is free forever
- If you also enabled the Jellyfin module, only one will be reachable at a time on the default ports
4. Where your data lives
Emby's config and persistent data are stored on the SparkBox host under:
/opt/sparkbox/modules/emby/config/
Backups via the SparkBox dashboard's Backup tile include this directory by default, so a single restore brings Emby back to its current state on a fresh install.

That's Emby live on SparkBox.
